What 4 More Days of Giving Means
As we reflect on 2012, we're so touched by the thousands of stories explaining how local funds and programs have helped a child, family or hospital. People write in, comment and even call to tell our team how these dollars — dollars that you contribute at a register, online or during Telethons and Radiothons — have made their hospital stay better, more affordable or just more relieving.
Through hospital visits and daily news reports, we've seen the effect our trademark unrestricted funds have on local hospitals as well. Without this model, many wouldn't have funding for cutting-edge research, those few extra needed beds or the ability to provide charitable care for families who need it most.
2012 has indeed been a year of unprecedented hope and healing, but it's not over! There are four more days to consider giving to your local hospital, and the need is always present. If you are making the decision to allocate funds before the clock strikes 2013 — whether for personal or company giving — consider donating to your local member hospital.
Just like a donation made at the store register, your contribution will go directly to your hospital to help with all kinds of medical expenses in the New Year. By giving locally, you'll help further our ability to touch more lives of children and their families than any other children's charity.
As with all Children's Miracle Network Hosptials donations, your funds are tax-deductible and can be counted as such during next year's filings. And your contribution will help kids from your state, kids like our 2012 Champions.
Our Champions represent the millions of kids treated for every injury and illness imaginable. Your funds over the years have helped provide the life-saving care they needed at their local hospital. This year Delta Air Lines, Ace Hardware and Chico's FAS made the U.S. Champions trip possible. In September, these kids and their famliies traveled to D.C. and Orlando, Florida to illustrate and exemplify the need for hospital donations.
They met with President Obama at the White House and were celebrated at the Walt Disney World Resort. But the most memorable occasions were the families bonding over the shared strength, resilience and hope needed to overcome childhood medical setbacks. And funds given every year helped them deal with those setbacks.
